Die Version in E ist die ursprüngliche und authentische Fassung (Ausnutzung des Manualambitus der Orgel Dis–h2), obwohl Abschriften erst aus der Zeit nach 1750 vorliegen.
In der frühesten Quelle (nach 1714) wurde das Werk nach C transponiert (mit Oktavversetzungen), damit es auch auf einer mitteltönig gestimmten Orgel gespielt werden konnte; die Authentizität ist fraglich.
