- Als Text- bzw. musikalische Vorlage diente G. P. Telemanns Vertonung desselben Texts innerhalb seines sogenannten "Engel-Jahrgangs" von 1749 (TVWV I:14). Die Sätze 2-4 fanden später mit geringfügigen Änderungen Eingang in die Pfingstkantate "Ertönt, ihr seligen Völker" (F 14). Satz 4 ist in überarbeiteter Form auch als Einzelwerk (F 28) überliefert.
