First performance in early February 1709 on the occasion of the council election in Mühlhausen at St. Marien Church; subsequent performance in Divi Blasii Church (compare with the first council election cantata BWV 71 and the description of the Mühlhausen celebrations on the occasion of the council election in 1705, see NBA I/31.1 KB, page 59). The music and text are lost; Bach’s authorship and direction of the first performance are confirmed by two entries in the Mühlhausen Camerey Register dated February 7, 1709: Geschenke: […] Herrn Baach von weimar vor Verfertigung des Rathsstükkes 4 rthl 6 [fl], 2 [gr] und Reise Kosten: […] Herrn Baachen von weimar, 2 rthl [Gifts: […] Mr. Baach from Weimar for creating the council piece 4 Reichstalers 6 [Florins], 2 [Groschen] and travel costs: […] Mr. Baachen from Weimar, 2 Reichstalers] (Dok. II Nr. 43). In the corresponding accounting entries from 1710, Baach is again mentioned for the council piece [Baach wegen des Rathsstükkes]
