Date of origin, Work history: vor dem 11. Dezember 1726
First performance on December 11, 1726, to mark the beginning of Professorship by Dr. Gottlieb Kortte in Leipzig. The opening chorus is based on BWV 1046.2/3, and the Ritornello in movement 5 is based on the Trio II in BWV 1046.2/4. Movements 1, 3, 5, 7–9 are later reused as a parody template for BWV 207.2
