Date of composition before 1713, probably around 1709–1711 (for the Mühlhausen council election?). Originally possibly in C major and instrumentation of Tromba I–III instead of Corno da caccia I–III, as indicated by Source D-CEp. Such a key/instrumentation combination is uncommon in Bach’s work and was very rare in the early 18th century
