Remarks The ambitus of the ricercar ranges in this version to contra E sharp. Some of the bass tones were transposed in the arrangement (e.g. in mm. 38-41 and mm. 88, 90). Thus, it coud be an arrangement for pianoforte, the ambitus of which ranged to contra E sharp.
In the fugue in D minor there are no traces of simplifications, reductions or transpositions.
